天然石铁陨石，是比较罕见的一类陨石，占陨石数量的2%--4%。铁镍和硅酸盐矿物含量相当(30%--65%)主要矿物有橄榄石、各种辉石、铁纹石和镍纹石。陨石的科学价值体现了它的自然属性，而这种科学的价值又成为陨石收藏价值的基础，也就是说，它不仅具有一般高端收藏品的稀有性，其科学探索的价值是陨石独有的内涵，正是这种内涵决定了陨石收藏具有深刻的内在价值发现和无穷的魅力。
