安徽方孔十文铜元，红铜，极罕见，位列铜元小十珍，未使用品安徽省于光绪二十八年1902年5月17日在安庆成立安徽铜元局，曰安徽局，添置机器二十部，开铸五文和十文铜币。安徽方孔十文铜元系安徽铜元中的初试铸品。这枚铜元的铸造情况，因档案缺失尚未见到明确记载。不过，根据它存世极稀及制作精美的特点，人们便将其定为试铸样币。它之所以未被发行，很可能是因为中间凿有方孔，制造时容易损坏机器和颇费工时的缘故。安徽方孔十文，可能在当时试铸，因费工费时，且模具极易损坏，所以没有大量制造，存世量不超过二十枚。安徽方孔十文制作精美，文字、币面设计十分巧妙，中间穿孔兼具传统与现代，虽然没有名列前茅，但是却是收藏家梦寐以求之物，存世罕见，完全未使用品。
清安徽省造光绪元宝每元当製钱十文实心穿铜币一枚，在中国货币发展史上，从传统铸造的方孔制钱跨越到近代机制货币的分水岭和里程碑，就是安徽方孔铜圆。安徽方孔铜圆虽然带有方孔，有着传统制钱的形态，却依据近代货币的全新概念设计制造的，历来被称为铜圆珍宝，它的存在使人们看到了中国两千多年来方孔铸钱的终点和墓碑，使人们看到了方孔钱与近代工业化社会的格格不入之处。
安徽方孔十文铜元，仅见红铜质。币面中央凿一方孔，孔外铸“光绪元宝”及珠圈，上缘铸“安徽省造”，下缘铸“每元当制钱十文”，左右两侧铸满文“宝皖”；背面方孔外为龙图（俗称“立龙”），上缘铸英文纪地“安徽”，下缘铸英文纪值“十文”，左右两侧各铸一花星，俗称“梅花星”。品相精致，其审美风格独持，钱币正面鲜然可见满汉文化的融合，而钱背却明确标示了西方文化的介入。由于安徽省光绪元宝是钱币的十大珍品之一，故其拥有很高的市场价值。
