孙中山开国纪念银币，俗称小头，是民国时期流通的主要货币之一。是第一枚将大总统头像替换皇家龙图的国币，这意味着宣告清王朝统治的结束，中国从此进入共和制的新纪年。此外，币面镌刻中英文字，意在告知外国人，中国新的开放时代来临。

此组银圆为珍品级“孙中山开国纪念币”，它的正面中央为孙中山侧面像，上下铸有“中华民国开国纪念币”隶书字样，左右为五瓣梅花各一枝，意为“五权宪法”之意，周边有珠点、齿状装饰。背面中央为中文隶书书体“壹圆”二字，左右各辅以嘉禾图案，每枝一穗三叶，代表“三民主义”之意，上侧铸有“MEMENTO”(纪念币)字样，下侧为“BIRTH OF REPUBLIC OF CHINA”(中华民国诞生)，左右上方分列六角星图案。

 

上六星银元是当时铸造量最少的银圆，发行时间也很短，中央就开始进行回收，是存世量很稀少的一种古币，可谓凤毛麟角。

Sun Yat-sen's founding commemorative silver coin, commonly known as the small head, was one of the main currencies in circulation during the Republic of China. It is the first national currency to replace the head of the president with the royal dragon picture. This means that the end of the Qing Dynasty’s rule is announced, and China has entered a new era of republic. In addition, Chinese and English characters are engraved on the currency surface to inform foreigners that a new era of opening up in China is coming.       This group of silver rounds is a rare "Sun Yat-sen's founding commemorative coin". Its front center is a profile portrait of Sun Yat-sen, with the words "Republic of China's founding commemorative coin" cast on the upper and lower sides. There are five plum blossoms on each side, meaning "Five Powers Constitution". It means that there are beads and tooth-like decorations around the periphery.
