广东双龙寿字币分一两、七钱二分、七钱二三种版别，其银币的铸造，史料中没有确切记载，也可能是关于其部分在历史长河中已丢失。因此泉家们历来对于其具体铸造情况有不同的解读，而且至今没有定论。在民国时期以张炯伯为首的诸多学者认为：这种银币是光绪三十一年，也就是1905，为纪念慈禧太后七十寿辰而铸造的。张炯伯在其《广东省造壹两银币》一文中称：“惟本品因未纪年，殊难遽断，然观其图案，谐作福寿，环绕双龙，幕无英文，意含颂祝，大异常制。由此以推，成为纪念币之一种，专铸以祝慈禧太后六旬大寿者也。

该币直径39mm；币正面珠圈外上端镌“广东省造”四字，下方为“库平七钱二分”六字，左右两侧各铸一蝙蝠图案，珠圈内铸满、汉文“光绪元宝”四字;背面珠圈外铸有双龙图案，里面铸有一圆形“寿”字。这枚广东省造光绪元宝寿字双龙币版面设计优雅，雕刻精良，铜币表面包浆自然，可见岁月流通痕迹，至今仍保存完好，实为不易，具有无法估量的学术与历史价值。
