1945年生于北京，中国美术家协会会员，香港亚洲艺术家协会常务理事，香港新美术学会创始会长，北京海华归画院副院长，北京名人书画研究院名誉院长。
　　作品入选多届全国美展，百年中国画大展，大英博物馆中国当代绘画展；香港艺术双年展，北京国际美术双年展，深圳国际水墨画双年展等重大展览。多次获奖。曾在北京、香港、台北、新加坡、纽约、洛杉矶、芝加哥、东京等地举办个人画展。
　　作品被中国美术馆、香港艺术馆、香港文化博物馆、上海美术馆、北京画院、丹麦皇家画廊、花旗银行、汇丰银行等机构及国内外私人收藏。出版有 “胡永凯画集”、 “胡永凯彩绘金瓶梅百图”、“胡永凯现代彩墨画艺术”、“ 美人依旧—胡永凯的彩墨世界”等多种画集.
