艺术简介
Adriana Torres (Sevilla, 1968)
Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Seville in the specialty of painting and has taken postgraduate courses at Central Saint Martins, University of Arts London. She has also worked as a painting teacher for more than 10 years and exhibited in Barcelona, Hohenems (Austria), Lisbon (Portugal), London (UK), Madrid, Malaga, Seville, Washington (USA) and Zaragoza among others cities.
Her work has been exhibited in museums such as the CAC Málaga, the Andalusian Center for Contemporary Art in Seville or the National Museum of Catholic Art in Washington and in art fairs such as ARCO or Art Sevilla.
Silence as the theme of her doctoral thesis marked, not only her artistic career, it was also the beginning of several individual exhibitions characterized by a great influence of the spiritual and a permanent social commitment.
Although her beginnings are linked almost exclusively to painting, her subsequent conceptual evolution has led her to work indiscriminately with drawing, sculpture and installation. Her work is also supported by the use of other techniques such as photography, object, collage or sound and materials as different as hair, water, resins, plaster and objects, especially for clinical use such as wheelchairs, sheets, pillows or serum drippers.
In her conceptual, aesthetic and emotional discourse the series and many other works interspersed among them have taken place, reflecting on her thoughts and concerns, drawing as a whole a universe of planets and stars in whose territories the artist reflects on her inner world. In Beyond are the angels who occupy the canvas. Angels that protect and care. Angels who watch and save. Angels that calm an existence of shock. The Silence and the flowers of silence are inhabited by white and solitary beings who discover introspection, thought and meditation. Loneliness is not only a consequence, it can also be a decision. Funda mental, Funda-mental is a set of works that represent hugs that, in turn, represent love. Nothing disturbs you (...) nothing is missing, poem of Santa Teresa, speaks of the importance of the main thing. Of the vain and the ephemeral in relation to God, if you have love nothing else matters. In those vacuous values alluded to in The Sound of Silence, certain works represent idolized aspects such as telebasura where millions of people lose the sense of authentic value. And finally who said that all is lost, a verse of the song I come to offer my heart of Fito Páez, is a star of hope, of light, of confidence in the reunion. It is the place where love opens doors, where the dream fills hearts with the future. In this universe there are other smaller satellites that fill the interstellar spaces like imaginary Journeys and the tears of María Magdalena that complete the values that the artist demands, not only for her, but as a scream that more than cry is cry, a message to the world .
