“Ink Be Colored in Soul” - Chinese Painting and calligraphy by Ding Guanjia

丁观加，一九三七年出生于长江口崇明岛。一九六零年毕业于南京师范学院美术系，师从傅抱石、吕斯百、陈之佛、秦宣夫、罗尗子、林散之、祝嘉等多位艺术大师。投身艺术创作已近一个甲子。曾任镇江中国画院副院长、院长二十年。现为中国书画艺术委员会副主席、中国美协及中国书协会员、国家一级美术师，享受国务院政府特殊津贴。2002年退休后移居北京。

丁观加曾先后在北京、上海、广州、深圳等地及日、德、加、瑞士等国家举办个展19回。出版有个人画集10种，发表论文30多篇。作品被中国美术馆、中国美术家协会、江苏省美术馆及安徽、广东、浙江等省博物馆收藏，并被德国曼海姆美术馆、韩国水原大学等国际艺术机构收藏。
“墨彩心意”是对丁观加先生艺术风格及创作理念的高度概括。从江南山水的婉约细腻到巍巍山林的大气磅礴，他的绘画著力描绘出造化的无限变化。他重视写生，在大自然中寻找自己的绘画语言。他追求水墨意境，忠于自然而不复制自然，崇尚自然而又昇华自然，因而他笔下的山水景色呈现出了多种神韵和万千气象。其作品的色彩强烈浓重，强调画面暗部的细微描绘，在处理逆光、天空、水影等方面成就突出，颇具现代意味，自然清新，朝气蓬勃。和许多江南画家不同，丁观加在审美追求、题材选择和水墨技法等方面多有大胆的开拓，绘画语言单纯而整体，作品意蕴内敛而深沉，强化又不拘泥于繁琐的描写，给人以强烈的视觉冲击力。

与丁观加先生同时代的艺术家中，在山水画领域与书法艺术创作上都能获取如此成就者甚少。丁观加是成功者之一。

Mr. Ding Guanjia was born in Chongming Island at the mouth of the Yangtse River in November 1937. He was graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Nanjing Normal University in July 1960. He learnt from such well-known professors as Fu Baoshi, Lv Sibai, Chen Zhifo , Qin Xuanfu , Luo Shuzi , Lin Shanzhi and Zhu Jia etc. He started to undertake painting and calligraphy creation and the relevant studies in the autumn of 1978. He served as deputy president and president of China Painting Academy Zhenjiang branch for 20 years. He is now serving as vice chairman of the Chinese Painting Art Committee. He is a member of China Artists Association and China Calligraphers Association. He is ranked as the first-rate artist in China, who enjoys the special government allowance of the State Council. He migrated to Beijing after getting retired in 2002.

 Mr. Ding Guanjia has held 19 personal painting exhibitions in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou as well as some foreign countries such as Japan, Germany, Canada, and Switzerland. He has released 10 painting albums and more than 30 essays. His works have been collected by National Art Museum of China, China Artists Association, Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum and other provincial museums in Anhui, Guangdong and Zhejiang, etc. His works have also been housed by Germany’s Mannheim Museum, South Korea’s Suwon University, and other international arts institutions.
