After Thoughts - Jade·Stone·Porcelain
- Kang Qing Solo Ceramic Art Exhibition
Oct 12th - Nov 19th

This exhibition is based on artist Kang Qing’s previous show “Other Rocks” which occurred last year at Beijing. As an Academy teacher from Shanghai University, Kang Qing spends most of her studio time working with “scholar rocks” that are actually made of porcelain instead of raw stone. After her “Other Rocks” exhibition, Kang Qing has found that the concept of “Other Rocks” could be represented in other variations that still allow her porcelain work to fit within the scholar rock as well as jade contexts in our present time. "Other Rocks" is a special Chinese word which refers to how other people’s experiences could be helpful. This is what Kang Qing wishes to bring out from this series of work.
This exhibition works as a note book to record and exhibit what Kang Qing is concerned with as an artist. This series continues the deep concerns of human and nature from an artist’s perspective. By juxtaposing the scholar rock with the pure porcelain body, as well as including a few pieces of traditional red-green rock vase patterns, these new versions will add enriching flavor to her recent work. It is twocities Gallery’s honor to present this exhibition that carries forward the “Other Rocks” concept - “Afterthoughts – Jade ∙ Stone ∙ Porcelain”.
